Hyderabad Outer Ring road

The Govt. of AP, proposed major infrastructure facilities in Hyderabad city and one of them is. the orbital linkage to decongest the traffic flow on the existing major arterials. The Outer Ring Road should be viewed as road -cum- area development project since the aim is the development of well planned and well connected Urban settlements around the Hyderabad Metropolitan area.

The 159 km long ring road connects Patancheru- Shamshabad- Hayathnagar- Medchal Patancheru providing connectivity to various State Highway and National Highways, to by pass the city of Hyderabad.

The importance of the proposed corridor being
1. Relieves congestion on metropolitan area and inner ring road and meets the future demand
2. Provides orbital linkage to radial arterial roads
3. Creates options for development of the further satellite townships
4. Provides linkage to the proposed MRTS and Bus system
5. Provides quick access to the International Airport from Strategic parts of the city
6. Connects various new urban nodes outside the city like Hi- Tech city , Games village, lIlT, ISB, Hardware Park, Singapore Township Financial district etc.,

Considering the anticipated growth in the region and development of the proposed satellite townships around the ring road and beyond, and the traffic thereby generated, an 8-lane divided carriage way is planned for a design life of 20 years.

The project is proposed to be implemented in 2 phases and is estimated to cost Rs 3000 Crores.
 Construction of 22 Km of Phase-I from Gachibouli In to Shamshabad NH 7 In. (Rs 500 Crores).
 Construction of 140 km of Phase-II (Rs 2500 Crores).

Hyderabad metro – update 29/04/06

S. Jaipal Reddy(Union Urban Development Minister) - expressed hope that the Metro project for Hyderabad would start within the current financial year. Assuring technical and financial support from the Centre, he said the project should be a reality on the lines of Delhi Metro.

E. Sreedharan (Delhi Metro chief) - said compared to other cities, Hyderabad Metro had many positive features. The city had already undertaken widening of roads and the envisaged Metro route did not have any underground sections and the city was located in a quake-safe zone. Delays in decision-making would only push up the cost of the project.

Mr. Shabbir Ali - said the State Government proposed to take up three-line, 60 km project in the first phase of the estimated Rs. 7,000-crore project. The three lines were Miyapur- Chaitanyapuri (26 km and 25 stations), Secunderabad- Falaknuma (13 km, 14 stations) and Tarnaka- Shilparamam (21 km and 20 stations).

ATI Technologies increases operations in Hyderabad

ATI Technologies has announced that it expanded and moved to a new 48,000-square foot facility in Hyderabad.

The company would be investing $75 million in the Hyderabad centre.

The company will be doubling its headcount to more than 350 hardware professionals in the next 12 months

Hyderabad facility focuses on research and development of next generation audio and digital media products.

(note: Hyderabad center is currently working on developing chipsets for cell phones, high-definition TVs and set-top boxes)

IT exports

Andhra Pradesh has recorded total IT exports of Rs 12,500 crore during 2005-2006, a growth of about 51 per cent from Rs 8,270 crore last year.

Honeywell opens R&D centre

Honeywell International, the $30-billion diversified technology and manufacturing company, has announced plans to set up an R&D centre in Hyderabad on a 10-acre site. The company also indicated that it plans to double its India headcount to about 8,000 over the next three to four years. The campus is likely to be ready by the first quarter of 2007. Amount it plans to invest in India would be about Rs 45 crore ($10 million).

IJM Projects in Andhra Pradesh

Development Agreement with Cyber City Builders & Developers Pvt. Ltd. for a Mixed Development at Moosapet Village in Hyderabad
IJM (India) Infrastructure Limited has on 30 March 2006 entered into a Development Agreement with Cyber City Builders & Developers Pvt. Ltd. to develop about 43 acres of Cyber City’s land at Moosapet Village in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. IJMII will, at its own cost, construct and develop the Land, which is about 5km from the HiTec City, into an integrated township consisting of residential and commercial development of approximately 4.5 million square feet. Cyber City will be entitled to the built-up space of the development.The estimated gross sales value is Rs700 Crores.


Acquisition of 35.5 Acres of Land for an Integrated Township Project in Kukatpally, Andhra Pradesh, India
Swarnandhra-IJMII Integrated Township Development Company Private Limited ("SITCO") has acquired from Andhra Pradesh Housing Board ("APHB") a total of 35.5 acres of land in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, India, which is adjacent to the on-going Raintree Park Project developed by SITCO, for Rs135.61 Crores. The land will be developed into an integrated township consisting of residential and commercial development of approximately 3.5 million square feet. The estimated gross sales value is Rs660 Crores (approximately RM530 million) and the development period is three (3) years. SITCO is currently negotiating with APHB and is expected to acquire another 10 acres of land in Kukatpally for Rs38.2 Crores. With the additional land, the total gross sales value from the development of the entire 45.5 acres of land is expected to be Rs800 Crores.
